Drake “Would You Like a Tour?” got off to a great start but not without some controversy.
Drake brought out Wiz Khalifa and performed with Future at his concert on Friday night in Pittsburgh, but abruptly cancelled his show in Philadelphia on Saturday.
Tensions have been high between Drake and Future, who is the opening act on the tour.
According to report, Drake initially fired Future from the tour after the Atlanta rapper told Billboard that Drake’s new album Nothing Was the Same is not “possessive.”
“Drake made an album that is full of hits, but it doesn’t grab you. They’re not possessive; they don’t make you feel the way I do,” Future said.
Drake didn’t like the comments and proceed to remove the rapper from his tour roster. Future later threatened to sue the Toronto rapper for $1.5 million in lost wages, but the two later worked out their differences.
However, new rumors alleged that the two rappers had a fight moments before Drake cancelled his concert at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
According to urban gossip site MTO, members of Drake and Future’s entourage clash backstage the Wells Fargo Center after tension grew intense, forcing the concert promoters pull the plug on the show just moments before the scheduled start time.
“Due to the elaborate nature of tonight’s show and an unexpected mechanical issue, Drake’s ‘Would You Like A Tour’ concert at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia has been postponed until Wednesday, December 18,” Wells Fargo Center spokeswoman Rebecca Goodman said in a statement.
Neither Drake or Future’s people could confirm the alleged fight.
The next tour date is set for October 26 at the XL Center in Hartford, CT.
